The reporter confirmed from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology that the three major operators have obtained the 5G test frequency use license approval, which means that the large-scale 5G test will be launched nationwide.
It is understood that China Telecom has obtained 5G test frequency resources with a total bandwidth of 100MHz from 3400MHz to 3500MHz; China Mobile has obtained 5G test frequency resources in 2515M1Hz~ 2675MHz and 4800MHz~ 4900MHz bands, of which 2515~2575MHz, 2635~ 2675MHz and 4800~ 4900MHz bands are new bands. The band 2575~2635MHz is the existing TD-LTE (4G) band of China Mobile. China Unicom obtained 5G test frequency resources with a total bandwidth of 100MHz from 3500Hz to 3600MHz.
Experts pointed out that the frequency resources of the 5C system test frequency use license are generally balanced. Priority is given to the 5C mid-band test frequency license with a continuous bandwidth of about 100MHz, which is conducive to giving full play to the technical advantages of 5G mid-band with both large capacity and continuous coverage. For telecommunications equipment, the telecommunications equipment used in different frequencies are different in radio frequency and channel. For each frequency change, the development cycle takes 8 to 10 months. Issuing 5G test frequencies allows telecom operators and equipment manufacturers to determine product development goals and greatly accelerate the product development process in all links of the industrial chain. At present, 5G spectrum allocation in other countries mainly adopts the mode of high, middle and low band collocation. The propagation radius of high frequency band is short, and the propagation efficiency is high in crowded areas. Medium and low frequency band has long propagation radius and better coverage. This release is for low and medium frequency band frequencies, and the allocation of high frequency band frequencies is under consultation.
At present, China Mobile is promoting 5G pilots in five cities, and has participated in 5G application demonstrations in 12 cities planned by the National Development and Reform Commission. China Telecom has expanded the 5G innovation demonstration from the initial five pilot cities to 17 cities across the country, and China Unicom has also expanded the pilot scale to 16 cities. The third phase of the 5c test launched by China's 5c promotion Group in September this year is nearing the end, and the third phase of the test is the last stage before scale trials and pre-commercial use. According to the plan, China will conduct 5G trial commercial use in 2019 and formal commercial use in 2020.
